Fat Thursday is approaching – and with it the traditional celebration of paczki. It's believed that on this day you should eat as many paczki as you can, so that the whole year will be happy and successful. A typical Polish paczek differs from the European one with a hole and is usually prepared using an ancient recipe. As we all know, the classic filling is rose jam. Although paczki with advocaat, custard, dulce de leche, chocolate and strawberry are also very popular.

Pączkarnia Manufaktura

The venue is located directly in the city center, so you'll easily find it on Grodzka Street. They offer paczki in various shapes: oval, round, elongated, triangular, or in the shape of a braid. You can also have coffee here.

Lajkonik

A tasty chain, where I also recommend tasty breads. There's a huge selection of sandwiches and baked goods, both savory and sweet. The bakery offers up to three types of paczki daily. My favorite is the one with salted caramel – delicious!

Góralskie Praliny

The largest chain of these shop-cafes is located in Zakopane, but two locations are also in Krakow. They offer various handmade regional chocolates: highlander rosettes, bars with Lajkonik, chocolate maps and decorated pralines. The paczki are also delicious.

Cukiernia Hawełka

This small cafe is located centrally in the market square in front of the entrance to the restaurant of the same name. You'll taste cupcakes, shortbread, croissants, cream cakes, eclairs there! Besides, classic paczki are also on offer.

Dobra Pączkarnia

Passion + tradition. That's how you can describe this chain's venues in two words. The bakery serves pastries made according to an original recipe dating back to 1989. Here you can try classic flavors as well as unusual ones: for example mango-chili, Bounty, Kinder Bueno, banana-chocolate, toffee, etc.
